I just know this much. I drove a TRX4 that was priced around $31,000 before incentives and what not... and the butt dyno said it was not as hard out of the hole. It just didnt feel as stong as 300 hp should. I know for a fact my truck is not at 300 and it feels a lot stronger... maybe I drove a dud, but it did not impress me... thats all.
I remember reading a review of the new Dak either from MotorTrend or Edmunds (forget which one) and they mentioned that the suspension and handling was definitely better but it almost felt a little sluggish. Seems their impressions matched yours Eric.
I think I'd definitely wait a year or two on the new 4.7, too. Let 'em work out all the bugs.
Eric...wonder if the gear ratios were different from your '06...I know you have the 3.92s...wonder if the tester had 3.55s. That might change the feeling for you.

I didn't read this cuz it's a bunch of words, but I think the reason it doesn't feel faster, is cuz they didn't up the torque that much...
Torque is what pulls you, and we are already at like 300 or somehting, and the new one isn't too much higher...

I have read somewhere maybe on this forum that the dakotas are set up more for towing and hauling than for performance. They market the trucks for people who need to haul atvs and jet ski's. I think the trx package comes with the 3.92 rear. The gearing in the tranny might make the truck feel sluggish.
Well our trucks are already sluggish and I say we don't need any more sluggishness :-P... but it could be a number of reason's is so sluggish... I wonder what dodge would say about it if you asked them?

I am working in traverse tomorrow, so I will swing by the dealer and see what else they have. If they have a laramie I will drive that... I assume they still have the "high output" option right?
