Supercharge or all motor??????
Ok been making a few calls on my rare day off. A local shop that builds dodges (vipers, SRT8 cars)invited me into their shop to discuss what direction I want to take my truck. They seem to think building the motor (cams, port the head, headers, chip) seem to be a better direction than the KRC supechager. They say they can develop the same HP in all motor for the same amount of money as the SC installed. They have never done a Dakota which may be good advertisement for them if I take it to all the local car shows (may work a deal on it) Opinions? I still like the idea of the SC, just think it would look and sound nice....
yeah dude i mean a Supercharger would be cool...but dude think about it just putting the supercharger on would be like a Civic just slappin a Turbo on...people are like wow but in the end dude your just adding a supercharger for power...doing all motor N/A power would be amazing dude...I say go all motor at first then later on put the supercharger on top of it and it would be nasty...thats my opinion!
Yea I'd do the motor. These engines are built on an assembly line and the tolerances are a little sloppy. Plus these engines are set up more for towing toys around instead of performance. Get the motor work done and you will have a good base to add a supercharger later.
forget supercharging, go all motor. right now with my cam kit, pcm flash and 4.10 gears i put a hurting on most hemis. the bottom end of these motors are pretty solid, you can do alot but not to any people make parts for the 4.7
I do chargers and turbos on 4 cylinder engines, but for a V8, build the motor. The only reason I can see to add forced air to a V8 is if 600 or 700 N/A horsepower still isn't enough.
I don't know which engine you have, but a 5.2 or 5.9 can be 400 HP/450 ft/lbs easily for about the same price as a supercharger (~$3,500). Of course, that's if you do the work yourself.
Edit: My bad. Forgot I was in the 3rd gen forum. Not sure what all can be done to the 4.7. Not that much aftermarket support.

What sort of expenses are they quoting, and what sort of results? There certainly isn't as many parts for the 4.7L as the 5.2L/5.9L V8....
Something else to ponder: If they want thousands of dollars to mod your motor and completely void your drivetrain warranty along the way, maybe you should consider spending that money trading in your truck for a 2008 Dakota - 235hp vs. 302hp with full factory support, with an air intake/exhaust/flash you could be making some pretty good power for a semi-stock truck.
