yeah man honestly i would go with the V8 but you think about it man with the V6 you're gonna have to press the gas a little bit more to get up to speeds...so really it evens out but really a V8 gets better gas mileage if driven simply but yeah i mean if you want to go with the V6 go for it...and the v6 will have less horspower than your Cobalt SS...Cobalt has 205 wheel horsepower the V6 comes with what...170 something?

Well I would get the V8. I average 14mpg and sometimes hit 15mpg all city driving. The V6 wouldn't be much better than that. These trucks are heavy so the V8 would be a better choice in my opinion. I have an 05 club cab SLT 4x4 with the V8. I love the truck but the lack of goodaftermarket support makes me wish I got something else. If you are looking for a basic daily driver that you can use for weekend projects or taking the boat or jet ski out this is a great truck. If you want more or plan on a lot of mods I would consider something else. I hate to say that but thats how it is.

yeah i love my truck too. i get picked on a little too much and people say its a girly truck and all my friends have fullsize trucks but i love it anyways. i love the power that the v8 has and its ability to tow. ive gone offroading with mine and its fun. i wouldnt trade it for anything other than a ram haha. good luck

Well I got it, I'll make a separate post about it but I bought a 06 Blue Dakota club cab v6 with 17k on the clock, sirius sat radio, Rhino bedliner, retracting bed cover, for ~$15,850... I won't be using it for off roading so 4x4 wasn't really a concern of mine. The v8 would have been nice but everywhere I looked for one with a v8 and the same milage and condition as this one was $18.5k +

On cars.com the v6 for the 2006 Dakota says it has 210HP and 235 torque, which is far more than my cobalt..... The cobalt SS/SC was supercharged to get 205HP, I didn't have the supercharged one so it only had 177 hp or so....
