Anyone buying 08 models?
The single biggest problem with the dakota now is, they go upward of $30k! Thats nuts. You can get an OK Equipt. 4x4 1500, for the price of a fully loaded dakota! I wouldnt buy the dakota now that thats the case..
And on the other end, if you willing to get a slightly smaller truck, like the chevy or ford ranger, you can get the same truck for 10k less.
The dakota is that awkward inbetween with a full size price tag. You know?

With the rebates that are being offered on the rams you could get a ram quad cab with the new 4.7 L V8 for like 25 grand. If chevy's hybrid silverado is all they say it will be I may get one when I payoff my dakota. Gas will most likely hit 4 bucks a gallon here in philly by next summer and they claim the hybrid silverado will get 20mpg in city driving so that would be great for me since all I do is city driving. I also read the hybrid will start in the low 30,000 range. Dodge should make a dakota hybrid with a diesel engine. Probably get 24mpg or more and I would stick with the dakota.
I may be buying one. I have been thinking about getting a truck to haul my quads around and everytime i i find that the Dakota fits what i need perfectly. Not to big but has plenty of room inside with the QC. V8 with plenty of towing power and not to bad price wise. The sport package with everything i want comes up to like 29 with my discount from work and the current rebate offer. Not cheap but the big trucks with the same options are a lot more expensive. When i went to my dealer i saw this puppy sitting there and didn't think it was a 4x4 at first but then found out it was. Loved the way it drove and rode and pretty much made up my mind. Need to sell a couple toys first but then will be ordering one up. Will probably go with red and the black wheels should be a pretty truck.
this is the one i took out.

Hello Everyone. I am new to this forum. I just ordered an '08 TRX4 Dakota Crew Cabfrom a local dealer. I'm told it wil be 6-8 weeks for delivery. My wife and Iboth drive all our vehicles which includes an '07 Toyota Tundra. Since I have a feeling she'll be driving the Dakota a lot more than me (she'll take it over) I ordered some extras such as full time AWD Transfer Case, Premium Sound, Moonroof, etc. I'm already looking for accessories for it. Does anyone know ifanyone makes a rear anti-sway bar for 3rd Generation Dakotas? Thanks for any replies.

Big down payment?
How do you work a trade-in, if your new truck isn't coming in for two months?
Do you fill out an order form similar to the on-line Build Your Own?
Are there additional special order options available; Hood scoop, Night Runner, AWD on an SLT?

I'd like to buy an 08 Red Dakota Ext Cab with the V8, but they just don't seem to have any around. I figured I could work a better deal if they had them on the lot, and have been holding off ordering one, but I've been waiting over three months now...
In 2000 I ordered a chevy silverado. I gave them 500 bucks as a deposit and I had a list of what I wanted that I printed from an online service. As far as trade in they will take into account how many miles will be added between the time you order and the time you pick up the new truck. I tried to sell my old truck on my own first. It didn't sell so they told me when I ordered that they would give me 5400 bucks for the chevy truck I had and they gave me that when I went to pick up the new truck only took a month to get it so I didn't put a lot more miles on my old truck. Its a great way to buy a vehicle because you can get exactly what you want and not be stuck paying for extras you don't want like most trucks on the lot have.
I had to put a non-refundable deposit of $1,000.00 down. I didn't trade anything in but that wouldn't have been a problem. Everything else takes place once the truck arrives from the factory to the dealership. When it gets to the dealership, they'll call me and the rest of the payment (my money down or financing) takes place once I take delivery of the truck.
The dealership said that the Dodge production line in Warren, Michigan is shut down till after New Year's and even though they have already placed the order forour truck with the factory, nothing is going to happen till the factory opens back up after New Year's. I've got to say thatDodge sure seems to have done their homework on the Dakota....we checked out all the mid-sized trucks and for us, the Dakoa was heads above the rest.
