I think bolting a reciever to the bumper is kind of dumb, so I guess I will make a plate myself. I'll do that harness this weekend. Sorta looking at recievers but all I will be towing is a small trailer so really the bumper is fine.
Good question on the door stuff, you'd need different panels, switches, motors, etc. I'm thinking that is an eventual wrecking yard upgrade.

I would put in a real reciever, even if you are just towing light stuff it can save you alot of trouble when switching *****. Also if you ever want to use a hitch mounted bike rack, or still want the use of your bumper step you have it. That is ****y about the harnes but now i know not to get that one haha.[/align]

So, you added cruise control to a ST for <100? No servo necessary, no other parts besides the switches on the stearing column? What year do you have, I have an automatic trans 05 quad cab. Has anyone heard of any reason I wouldn't be able to do the same for mine? This is a HUGE deal if so...

Hey I just wanted to chime in and say THANK YOU for this info. I tried it on my '07 3.7L 6sp Dakota and it worked great.
Two dealers told me it couldn't be done and it wouldn't work--but really it couldn't be easier. I paid $30 for the two switches, no need to flash the computer or any nonsense like that.

I had the same experience for my 2007 Dakota ST 3.7L V6, 6 speed manual. I called dealerships and they said I couldn't put it on an '07. The one dealership told me that it just wasn't an option on the '07 V6 model but it was on the V8 and V6 of all other years.
I found the switches from a totaled 2004 Ram on eBay for $20 total, including shipping. I already knew that the harnesses were in the steering wheel so I figured it was worth a try for only $20.
It took about 5-10 minutes to install and it worked perfectly.
Now I need power locks, windows, etc... I hope those are just as easy to install
