Default differential fluid

Why does our differential fluid need changing everey 15K? I haven't changed it in 150K in my Jeep with no problems!

They're probably just being needlessly cautious and get people into the dealerships for service more often. I changed mine once and will probably never do it again unless it starts leaking or gets a lot of water in it.

Isnt that the truth about dealership grabs. When I was finalizing the paperwork on my truck the salesman recommended bringing the truck in for every servicing in case a warranty issue arose, no questions could be directed towards me. [sm=forgetit.gif] haha I think I am capable ofchanging the oils or inspecting anything beings I been doing it well before I could drive!

I would say maybe not 15,000 miles, but the differential fluid most certainly should be changed at certain intervail. However, I would definitly recommend changing it at 15,000 miles the first time, since it wears in. Just like anything else...

I changed my rear diff at 8,500 miles to AMSoil, and then at 14,000 changed front diff to AMSoil...

I think my schedule is to replace mine every 20 or 25,000 miles. But typically change out my fluids earlier than scheduled. Except for engine oil, which is funny. Last two changes, I've deployed a few weeks after I was going to change it, so I just let it slide.

the first change is the most important due to gear break in and all the metal particals from that floating around

If you are like me you don't have to worry about it, since the dealer has to replace something back there every 15k or so, so they change at least some of the fluid each time.

That was the recall and then my truck isspening a week for a whole new rear end. Oh yeah also the brake sensor broke once (leaving my brakelights on) and my center console won't open.

I love my truck, but they need to work on quality control.
