Default Anti-lock brakes

I thought that all new cars/trucks just came with anti-lock brakes standard. But it doesn't appear that way cause I dont think my truck has anti-lock brakes...

Dakota's only have rear ABS standard unless your's was optioned with the 4 wheel ABS system. So you might only have rear ABS.

Yeah, chances are you only have rear ABS. When I bought mine it was nearly impossible to find one with 4 wheel ABS on the lot. I'd say less than 5% have 4 wheel ABS!

Mine only has rear ABS, asked my dealer about the 4wheel option and they said they only had one model come through with that option on it. This is the 3rd or 4th largest Dodge dealer in Maine so Dodge definitely dropped the ball on that. Every single truck sent to the northeast should have had that option on it (actually it should have been standard, even cheap econo-cars have 4wheel ABS now, hell my 94 Integra had it standard along with 4wheel disc).

This was a sore subject with me. I just assumed I has 4 wheel ABS. I learned I didnt have it when some idiot pulled out in front of me and front locked up, was lucky I didnt hit him. Not huge problem really just as long as you know you dont have it and slam the pedal to the floor. I grew up in snow country so just have to go back to pumping the brake! I hope on the new trucks it is standard!

Same here for growing up in snow country, it doesn't annoy me so much because I would absolutely need it (I don't, just pump the brakes or threshold) but because it's so blatantly far behind other manufacturers it's not even funny. The 1990 Suburban I owned for all of 2 months had rear wheel ABS standard, 15 years later I expect progress. I also like Dodge so I expect more out of them, when they deliver less its very disappointing.

I would rather have 4wheel ABS than airbags. In my opinion, it is much better to have something that can keep you out of a wreck standard than something that can minimize the effects when you are in one.
