getting a new egr valve and egr solenoid in the morning. i know very little about these but, do any of you know anything about the EGR or had these problems?

 

I just recently replaced mine. Not too bad of a job unless you have big fingers. Two small bolts on exhaust recirculating tube are kind of tricky. An 8mm bent boxed end wrench is the trick for getting the one closest to the firewall. Also there is a little needle of a stud coming through the firewall at that location. Check out the steps in the service manual, they are very helpful. Good luck.

 

Why is everyone replacing there EGR?

 

I found that mine was stuck in the full open position causing sporatic running, hesitation and all around crappy performance.

 

I got mine at napa for about 53 bucks. Didn't seem too bad a price.

 

My EGR valve threw Check Engine light. Dealership replaced it under warranty.

Got mine thru a friend at a repair shop- 36 bucks his price.

 

Had mine relaced under warranty last year, It was causing my truck to trough engine codes,stall and idle rough. No problems since
