straight pipes

have any of you guys put straight pipes on your trucks. if so how loud is it and does it effect your gas milage?? im just curious bc my buddy is about to run me a straight pipe and i am just curious... any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would imagine it to be quite loud. On my '06 Dakotahad just the front resonator and then a Flowmaster 40 Series and that was just loud enough before it was too loud. I know a few guys on this site have straight piped the exhaust and dumped it in front of the rear wheel. Too me, that is way too loud but for some it's fine. On my new '07, I will be putting a dual exhaust on. And, again, that will be just loud enough.

Main reason for loss on mpg's is cuz, louder it is, well, dur.... the faster you wanna go...

yeah i love exhaust and i love it loud, how many of the resinators should i take off?

i dont know if it makes any since but i have my 04 ranger stright piped and yeah it sounds sweet as the anything but ppl would ask me what i was runnini told them straight pipes from the cats back they kinda looked at me funny and some told me that it wasnt good for the valves...and i unerstand how it would ..i guess it has to do something with the back pressure but i have no clue and when i had it done i lost a lot of my low end.

what about if i did a glasspack?? how do you think that would sound and also how big of a pipe should i run so that i have the max flow?? what is it stock?? any help would be again greatly appreciated.

stock is 2 1/2" I had just the cats and front resignator dumped infront of the rear wheel and it sounded good
