Just not my day
Well guys, I guess I might not be complaining about my truck's suspension or trans anymore.
I was driving back from grabbing lunch a couple hours ago and some old woman in a Buick crossed the center line into my lane to avoid rear-ending a stopped car in front of her and basically totaled my QC.
Her left front corner impacted my left front tire first, then gouged the entire driver's side of the cab before hitting the bed, peeling away the bedside between the cab and bed front, in the process nailing the left rear wheel and ripping the rear diff out from under the truck. The impact with the rearend made the front of the driveshaft disconnect from the trans, which jacked the truck up like a pogo stick while I was broadsliding about 150 feet before it came to a stop. The broadslide rolled the right front tire off the rim and almost made the truck flip over on the passenger side. I think the only thing that kept me from rolling was attempting my best to steer into it as the truck was bouncing on the right side tires while sliding.

I won't know til next week if insurance is going to try to repair it (I assume the rear of the frame is bent) or if they'll total it. The whole driver's side is wiped out, 3 rims and tires, the rear, driveshaft, probably trans (trans fluid was leaking everywhere), and who knows what else. The worst part of all this is no matter what or how they cover the claim, I'm going to lose the money I've put into my rims and tires that were less than 2 months old. After I find out what the insurance co. is going to do, I'll have to go take as much of my aftermarket stuff as possible out/off of it.
I'm perfectly ok, but this sucks monkeyballs!
Oh, and the airbags never even went off. [&:]

RE: Just not my day
I'm going to try like hell Altair. The problem is, they were bought private so I have no receipts for them.
And Jadman, I won't know what I'm doing to do until I find out what the insurance plans to cover. If they say they're going to fix the truck, obviously I'll keep it. If not, I'll end up getting something else (possibly another Dak) and whatever I don't need will go to the highest bidder. [&o]
I've got tons of stuff for it too. Most of which I still hadn't got around to installing so it's all brand new. Just no 17" rims and tires anymore.
