Nice! I have a buddy who just about creams himself over the Ford GT. His dad almost bought one last year before he passed away. He had it ordered and everything.
What I find crazy though is that, for the money, a stock Z06 Corvette will eat both of those cars for lunch (and just about anything else on the road that costs under $500K) for a lot less coin. And they ride better and have more creature comforts than either one of them too.
Speaking of, has anyone seen and heard about the new ZR1 they're building? It's going to be available sometime in '09 I think and run about $100 grand. It has a crapload of carbon fiber panels, a 6.2liter supercharged engine (basically the same one that's in the current C6, sans blower), and 600+HP. It looks like after all these years, Chevy FINALLY has a better idea.

GM always had the potential but they stand back and throw the big punches when and how much they want. The new truck engines here now and coming are hemi and 6.7 CD killers and they know it. They got the bucks and the engineering while Chrysler stumbles year to year. I wish it were the other way around.

I get what you're saying, but that's almost a freakin' full-blown racecar, dude. I was just stating that, for the money ($150K+ for the GT and $85K or so for 'regular' GTS/SRT Viper) the Z06 spanks both of them like a stepchild and sends them to their room without dinner. And all for $70-75 grand.
As far as the ZR1, yea, that's been a long time coming. GM was actually pretty slick about the whole thing during the planning stages, before the "official" release came out. Misrepresenting and floating 'fake' releases about the car and all. Calling it the SS, Stingray, Blue Devil, ZR1, and whatever else to keep the media ****** chomping at the bit and printing whatever they could, true or not. I found it all kind of funny.
What a car though, now that they've made it official. And the numbers they're putting out are only speculative at this point. Think Z06 with another 100+HP and enough torque to make you lose your lunch and then be forced to lick it up. All in about the same timeframe too. Haha [:'(]
Anyway, for around $100K, it's going to take almost any car out there right now (anything under a half a mil) to the woodshed and make it cry for it's daddy. Hell, the Z06 even gives $250,000 cars like the Murcielago all it can handle. Chevy may be 40 years behind the times with making the Vette an actual 'supercar' but, personally, I'm damn glad they finally did. Even if they're waaaaaay late doing it. The C6 Z06 is an E-ticket ride for sure (been in one and it just about scared the **** out of me), but that was only a teaser for what this new beast is going to be capable of.
Too bad I don't have the extra $2K a month laying around to get on the payment plan. [&o]
Don't get me started on cars, dude. I'll talk for days without shutting up. I have a truck b.c I have to, but I'm a sportscar nut through and through. I love me some exotics (Lambo, Ferrari, and especially the new Koenigsegg), but when one of the big 3 do something right, I give them their due props too.

id take a viper over a z any day. when you get to that kind of level, tenths of a second dont matter to me. in my eyes, a viper is more exclusive, exotic, and just better looking than a vette...id rather be caught in the viper...thats just my .02
im not saying im not impressed with the new vettes...i am...but like i said, my butt meter cant tell a difference in tenths of a second....
im a car nut too...just another day at the office...its a 93 formula firehawk, with 9k orig miles...my pride and joy

Can't (or won't) argue with you there. To each our own and I'd never try to talk you into liking one or the other. Just like you though, I have my fav and have been a Corvette guy since I was a little kid. I wasn't overly impressed with the C5, but when the C6 came out I just about lost a load. Then they hit us with the Z06 and the numbers it puts up and it was like crack for a guy like me. And now the new ZR1? If it had t*ts to go along with everything else it has, I'd think I got into heaven somehow (I NEVER will though
). When the Viper came out, it just never hit me, and I don't know why. It's lines just don't work for me or something. The new one to me looks waaaaaaay like the C6 vette, but I'd still take the Z for the money. To each our own man. Personally, I'm glad we don't all like the same thing. It would be a damn boring world. And, not to mention, it wouldn't give all the auto manufacturers any goals or new rungs to reach for if the 'other guy' didn't try to go faster or make a cooler heap of metal and fiberglass.
With that said, what if anything do you guys know about the Koenigsegg out of Sweden? Short of the Veyron (which to me looks like a bathtub, only uglier) it just may be the baddest-*** car to ever hit asphalt. 250MPH, more HP than a whole parking lot full of Toyotas, and looks to kill. Unfortunately one will set you back about $800K.[&:]
