i took out my coils to install the leveling kit and noticed they have different numbers. does anyone know which is left and which is right? by the way what would happen if i switched the two?
i took the struts to a local garage with a wall mounted strut compressor and he stated that he was scared the coil was going to shoot out if he tried to compress it. long and short he refused to do it and worse refuesd to let me take the risk. did anyone have trouble without a hydraulic compressor?
i bought the monroe 71110 because i chewed up one of the struts threads. there is a big difference just in hte hand. the stock i can fairly easily compress and it shoots right out. the monroe take alot of effort and slowly return. hopefully one day the will be installed and i can tell you how they are on hte truck.
I had mine changed at the Dealer and the tech stated it was scary, very hard to compress.
I did it partially with normal strut compressors from Napa, that's far scarier than a wall-mount, couldn't compress them enough either. The shop with the wall mount did it in all of 20 seconds and the tech looked like he could have done it in his sleep.
