RE: Equipping to Tow
The 3.92 are order item most of the tow PKGs Daks come with the 3.55's the middle of the road,I was tempted to put them in mine last Aug when my rear end blew up,but I didn't want to get worse mileage.
Any way I just picked this up last Thursday and My gas mileage is 13.8 while towing it.

I know I am going to sound like an @$$ but you do realize that you have the V6 right? I feel that anything you "can" tow with your vehicle will be fine. I personally towed about 7000lbs with my Raider V8 4x4 Quadcab. It is rated for only 6500, but pulled 7 easily. I don't have the brake controller but did get the tow package. What do you plan on towing? As far as the cooler, that is a very good idea. I believe the cooler that they have on these trucks are the ones that are on the bottom of the radiator. I personally don't like them, and would prefer an aftermarket one. They are super easy to install. Good Luck.

This would work fine.
Or you could go to the next step here

It all depends where you live as well. You want your trans to get up to temperature as well. If you have a fan running and live up north I could maybe see a problem with the fan setup. The Hayden one will work fine. I personally like the flat ones and not the round ones you may see on E-bay. They are super easy to put in too. Just disconect both lines from the cooler in the truck and hook up. Good Luck

I have a V6? I thought I had a three lobe rotary.
As previously stated, I have no trailer or anything that rides on a trailer. Just curious as to what was needed to get a bone-stock truck ready to tow safely.
Also, since there is no pump circulating fluid around a manual transmission, I'd say a trans cooler would not be advisable.

Well, the tranny cooler is a good idea... and I would say that if you dont have the 3.92's... maybe look into that. They do come with the tow package from dodge.

<- Tow package, 3.55 gears, originally purchased off the lot as a leftover in 06 by my grandfather before being sold to me so it was not a special order truck.

RE: Equipping to Tow
Mine was only special order because of the manual. I tried to get the 3.92s and the stick shift together, for towing purposes, but the dealer wouldn't do it. I had to choose either 3.92s and auto, or 3.55s/3.21s and the stick shift.
You can get a tow package with any of the gear ratios (except 3.21s, perhaps) no matter what tranny you get.

I dont know if they are still running the special but JC whitney was selling curt mfg. class 3 hitches with a free ball mount for 69 bucks. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/I...36278311757161 I bought one and installed (only had to drill 2 holes...installed in about 30 minutes), then bought an apater from NAPA to wire up lights (around 20 bucks), i havent been towing anything real heavy, but i have been towing a flat bed trailer with about 3,000 lbs on rock on it with absolutly no problems. (2005 4.7 qaud cab dak) Should be able to tow anything you might need to tow in a pinch....hope this helps!
