Default Stock Security?

OK guys I have searched and read some older posts on the factory security set-ups and I am still confused. I am curious what the key determining factors of the difference in security systems? I am not looking to upgradeor anything, just curious in figuring out the difference. Thanks guys

I believe any actual security was considered a mopar accessory and had to be dealer installed. I know mine had the keyless entry and the horn beeps when you lock it but there was no alarm whatsoever until I had a Viper installed.

Nope. If you have that then maybe some models did come with factory security...

Yeah thats why I created this thread, to find out what I exactly have, my truck does all what your truck did with the horn beep lights flash etc, but also it has a big red light that flashes up in the upper right corner of the cluster. I never noticed it until the other night when I was doing something next to the truck and I noticed this red flash from the interior, so I peeked through the window at it.

Generally, if you got a keyfob with your vehicle, you have a factory alarm installed. These are usually attached to dark grey keys with chips inside them to prevent the vehicle from being started with a cheap knockoff key.

If you have a red flashing light, it means you have the factory alarm. This will activate if the doors are opened without it being disabled.

Just leave the windows down, lock the doors, and you should see the light activate....just open the doors from inside....the alarm should sound
