Also if she's looking new the 4.7l was upgraded for the '08's with better hp and torque at the same mpg rating.

Because a Dakota is COOLER!! HAHAHA.. But seriously, I just traded off my trailblazer with a I6 engine. It sucked gas like no ones buisness and seemed to struggle alot under load. My Dakota is no comparison to the chevy. You have a Dodge, that should be enough for her right their....Riht now they have some great rebates on Dakotas..

Update: Talked to her tonight and she'll at least look at the Dak. Even though "dude" keeps pushing her like crazy not to listen to me. I'm getting ready to beat the sh*t outta' this little prison guard, supercop wannabe a$$hole. He's upset that she didn't do the deal today because she had to get my opinion first. I'm on a mission now guys, if she gets the Cheby, he's won!
We are also going to look at a Grand Cherokee, I thought she just wanted a truck, but she mentioned tonight that she loved my GC Overland (I let her use it when I was in NY for most of July and she took me to and picked me up from the airport in it) so we'll look at a 2wd laredo as well. So Dak = good, Grand Cherokee = good, Cheby Colorado = bad...

Well my parents owned an 05 Colorado Ext Cab and they ended up getting rid of it. The I5 wasnt a bad motor, high reving, but of course they didnt get a chance to put many miles on it. My dad didnt like the truck after owning, he said, as some of you said, that it was cheap. The mpgs were so so, comparing to a V8 it was about the same but not as powerful for the same amount of fuel. ON top of everything though they had trouble with the rear folding door latches. The damn doors would rattle like they were open. There was a recall, but it didnt fix it. The same problem was there. After several times to the the dealer, the shop said my parents would have to live with the truck cause there wasnt a fix. Needless to say the next week they owned a new car from a different shop. Comparing it my truck theres more room in the dakota, and more interior durability IMO

Come on guys...read between the lines. Who cares what truck she gets. This discussion is solely about his ****...and whether or not it will continue to get slobbed by this broad. I don't envy your situation buddy. My suggestion is to go into a dealership and pre-script the entire transaction with a well tipped salesman. Make yourself look like a master of negotiation. Dealers need to sell trucks so bad right now, that a sob story about getting the girl, might just induce the deal of a lifetime. She gets the truck, you become the hero, and your remaining days can be spent trying to figure out how to avoid marriage. Congrats on nailing the 24 year old.

Actually, you're not real far from the truth. I've had a couple of chances to turn this into a more serious relationship and didn't take the opportunity. But it's not really a "get the girl" thing. She's dated other guys right along, didn't bother me as long as I got mine once in a while (that's the price you pay for not wanting to jump into another serious relationship). But it's more about this Cheby lover talking down Dodge to her and trying to convince her that this POS Colorado is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I admit that my ego plays a big part here and I don't want to see her take someone else's advice over mine, but at the same time I KNOW that the Colorado is a troublesome POS and want her to have a superior vehicle.
Well anyway, her next day off is Wed., that's the day I take her vehicle shopping, so we'll see what she ends up with.
BTW: thanks guys for all the ammo in this Colorado vs. Dakota war....

Does he actually know anything about vehicles or is he just full of **** through and through? If it's the second all you need to do is expose the fact that he knows nothing in front of her and boom, he loses all credibility for the Colorado argument.

My guess is that he is both unknowledgeable, and full of $h!t. The Colorado is really awful. This proves that he will say anything to guarantee garment removal. If she come home with a Colorado...game over...he's bangin her.
