2009+ Dakota with Diesel??
Dodge is building a full-size for Nissan and Nissan is building a small car for Dodge, nobody's sure about the Dakota yet.
oh, didnt realize that... oh well hope it sticks around then... but the way the gas is and the way people are buying autos i dout theres gonna be alot buying trucks in general... so demand is very low... but hey who knows maybe this gas crisis will turn around and go back to normal when bush gets outta office-
yeah idk...i mean the 6cyl turbo diesel would be nice for the dakotas. I mean i think it would make a hell of a good selling truck. But right now i mean you can get a Ram 2500 mega cab with the cummins turbo diesel for 25 grand when it is stickered at 40. i was thinking about trade in but decided to keep my dakota. but i mean 15 grand off the sticker because trucks are not selling becaues of gas prices. yes they are dropping but for gas to get back to where they were they would have to drop back into the low $2 range per gallon. never gonna happen.
I have actually heard rumors that Dodge is considering a smaller truck to slot in beneath the Dakota. Probably low towing capacity but really good mpg. Think of the M80 concept.
I thought a slightly downsized version of the I6 they use in the Rams might be a decent choice, since it would´t be too radically different from a trusted, reliable engine they already use.
As long as I am on my wish list, I ask for 2 more things: put the same engine in the Jeep Rubicon (drool) and put large fuel tanks in these things (or even better yet, set them up from the factory to run SVO if we desire by adding one small tank and a heating system to the larger main tank.) The big advantage to a larger fuel tank (for both gas and diesel) is you can hold-off buying for a while when the local gas stations do their typical ¨oh, a holiday is coming-up so lets jack up the price of gas for the next week¨ stunt.
I think doing something relatively simple like this might actually help them corner what is left of the truck market. However, they are more likely to listen to the coke-heads in marketing and blow their research/dev budget on ¨more aggressive styling.¨ Sometimes I think these idiots deserve to go out of business.
