as i'm seeing i think alot of us would like to see a diesel dakota! i mean it would be a first in a mid-size truck of this generation unless i'm missing something. but it would be good. I mean there is a dakota that has a diesel motor in it...but granted its also the fastest diesel truck in the world and it gets 22MPG. I mean hello i would be happy to get 22MPG. who knows maybe one of these years if i get enough money by hitting the lottery or something else i will do a swap and do it that way but until then i 'll just wait for for the dumbasses at dodge to stop with the remodeling **** and start with the diesel move! but who knows i heard by 2010 they are considering going all diesel with all trucks from what i've heard. but who knows whats true with all the BS you hear now adays!

I would love to see more diesel engines. Hell I want one for my jeep patriot. The question that needs to be answered though is would you be willing to pay say 3 grand or more for a diesel option? Not many people would. I know I would maybe pay an extra 1 to 2 grand at most for a diesel Jeep Patriot. With a dakota you may end up spending close to or over 30 grand for a diesel. I think diesel is the way to go but its got to be affordable for us poor folks or they won't sell enough of them to justify doing it. I know I would not mind spending 5 bucks a gallon for diesel if it means getting double the gas mileage I currently get but I also would not want to spend 30 grand on a vehicle.

Heck I'd pay it, I want diesel not only for the mileage but for the ridiculous power potential!

.. and longevity the engine offers... the current 6.7 cummins i believe have a service life of 350,000 miles.... yeah, try and beat that guarantee with a gasoline engine. il pay even 5 grand extra, if it means a reliable truck.
