Actually, I was. When compared to a Dakota anyway. A quad cab 4WD Dakota weighs in around the 4700-4800 range depending on equipment. And a 'comparable' Colorado/Canyon is 600-700 lighter at around 4100lbs. If the GM trucks had a 300HP V8 like the discussion in this thread suggests, they would still be 500+lbs lighter with the same power. That sounds to me like it would make a Dakota it's little b!tch. And probably make it like it too. :/

2009 Chevrolet Colorado; Crew Cab I-4 2WD:
curb weight (lbs) 3721.4
Couldn't find anything for the V8...but I can't imagine 4 more cylinders adding 1300 lbs

And yes you can get the 5.3 in 2wd. If you follow the link you can find out for yourself. What might be throwing people off is the picture says is a 4x4 5.3...maybe making some people think it can only be made in 4x4. I just called the chevy dealership and they confirmed.

Their extended cab is the crew cab. The numbers I posted are right.

You lose roughly 18% of your stock horsepower through your drivetrain giving us roughly 197 hp at the wheels on a stock 2006 dokota. There hp is roughly 250 at the wheels. Estimating that our truck weighs 4700 pounds and the colorado weighs roughly 4000 pounds (300 added on for 4 more cylinders) the quarter mile times would approximately be:
Dakota: 16.769
Colorado: 14.678
So yea, it kicks the dakotas ***.
