Default Sat. Radio Mounted

I had my Sat. radio mounted on the windowshield but it was to bright at night so I removed the rubber suction cup and spring, drilled two holes in the round plate and mounted it under my center dash console. it does get in the way of the driver side cup holder a bit but not to bad, and it's easier to reach now.

Looks like a nice spot for it. I think I'm going to give up my Sirius this year. The sound quality blows, find myself just listening to the talk channels for that reason. Kinda hard to listen to the music channels after popping out a cd.

If you're listening through an FM modulator, via transmitter or antenna kit, the sound is pretty crappy, and probably mono. The best way to listen to sirius is to activate it through the factory head unit....if you have that option. It's almost as good as CD, and much better than FM. I know it's nice to have the portability of the other units. I think if you already have a portable unit, you can add the 2nd subscription (truck head unit) for $7 per month. I am a Howard Stern junkie. The best skit is the Jack n Rod when the retarded boy had a hamonica stuck in his ***.

I found the exact same thing with my Sirius. In the last truck, I had a suction cup-mounted Starmate on the windshield playing through the head unit with an FM modulator. The sound was total crap. I've heard AM radios that put out better sound. Then when I purchased my new truck though, the head unit was pre-equipped with Sirius, and man what a difference. Like mprohr said, it's basically CD quality. After hearing the difference, I would spend the coin for a pre-equipped head unit even if I bought a ride without it. I can't live without my Sirius and it's well worth $100 or so bucks for a new head unit, in my opinion.

I also don't like them mounted on the window. I have one of these for the Prius and one for the Dak. van still is on the windshield but it is farther away.

I just put in a Stratus. Pic attached. I think the sound quality is just fine for the factory speakers. I have heard that good speakers can really bring out the flaws. Oh well.
