Default Help with lowering spare tire

Can someone tell me how to lower the spare tire. I have the Key that lowers the cable. the tire lowers a little bit, and then gets hung up. The cable continues but the carrier that looks like a upside down T has a little prong that holds up. I know I'm not retarded, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. Thanks

Only reason my spare is still on, I haven't had a reason to take it off yet. AAA plus member so it's not like I need it.

I had the same problem with my 05 Dakota CC and I just took a small grinder and ground off the "T" wings.
