Exclamation 3k & the wait is over (warranty)! MOD TIME!

I have been waiting to mod my beast for too long and now I can. I want to mod it to increase HP & TQ without sacrificing mpg. While I want to mod I don't want to break my bank and will use the rule of practicality as a guideline.

2005 Dodge Dakota Laramie Quad Cab 4.7 HO w 265/65R17

Normal uses (for now): Driving too and from work; lil bit of off-roading, hoping to increase this aspect (considering no suspension or lift mods)

I have been browsing this forum for a long time and have created a list of wants and order of acquiring. I would greatly appreciate all of your inputs, opinions, and recommendations.

1) Autolite 3293 spark plugs
2) Bridgestone Dueler Dueler A/T Revo 265/70R17
2) Magnaflow Dual Exhaust
3) AEM Brute Force Cold Air Intake
4) 180 deg Thermostat

Additional questions are:
1) Can I squeeze a 270/70R17 in my wheel well without suspension/mod changes?
- I don't know if I am willing to put on any mods that will take away my truck's smooth ride just yet in order to squeeze them in there. But please enlighten me to ideas/etc

2) Is a Jet chip really worth it for me right now? I keep reading mixed reviews on it with the HO engine

3) Where can I buy the power wire mod for my truck? Let alone is it a good mod for me?

4) What suspensions would be good for the truck, considering I do some off-roading and drive back and forth to work?

Default TB

I was reading up on it and don't quite understand its overall purpose. What I took from it all was that the throttle body would hurt my mpg on the HO and made it sound more like it was for racing. I am more towards the off-road than the occasional race. Do you happen to know what the HO's current TB size is? And are my current speculations correct?

it wont really burn your mpg. it adds to the concept that engines rely on...faster in faster out. so upping your intake system along with your exhaust system would be beneficial no matter what style of driving you do.

i have 31" BFG under my truck and ive got a TM leveling kit and it doesnt take away from any aspect of the ride except for mpg from a bigger tire and the nice noise they make on freeway. the leveling kit isnt that big of a deal to do as far as ride quality and price and install, but will really let you cram some tire in there if you needed to.

When you say, "My trucks smooth ride" are you talking about the back and forth motion after you hit a bump or overall ride? If you want to get rid of the bouncy motion after hitting a hole or bump you need to consider Ranchos RSS 5000 shocks all around. They are the best option I have installed on my Dak. Still rides smooth but has completely done away with the rocking horse motion.

What's the deal with this power wire? Are you just moving you AIT sensor to a cooler location? If so, where do you guys put it?

Hold off on the Jetchip, with Superchips releasing a tune for the HO engine soon that's a better bet.

I was mostly speaking about overall ride, not so much off-road. BUt I greatly appreciate this suspension recommendation. I have absolutely no familiarity with suspension mods. I just know what they do. Did you specifically pick that model Ranchos for a reason? Or is that the "standard" one would put on for Dakotas?
