Default Finally got it back from dealer

After two and a half weeks without my truck, I finally picked it up today. They did the tranny work and replaced the pinion seal under warranty. The really nice part is that they only charged me one deductible despite the two unrelated problems.

With the tranny, they found that a spring had come loose from the valve body. Initially, they were going to replace the valve body, but I guess it would have been several weeks before they could get another one, so they replaced individual parts on the valve body. I would have preferred the new unit, but I need my car and they weren't springing for a loaner or rental.

They also covered the shift cable which broke due to the jammed transmission. They are also submitting my invoice for a cable I bought when I thought that it was just a broken cable. Hopefully Chrysler will pony up the $70 for that.

Other than not giving me a loaner, I am again pleased with the dealer. It's Rick Hendrick Dodge in Charleston. They are always very polite and they even wash the truck before I pick it up.

All I can say is thank God for the 7/70 powertrain warranty, and thank God I paid the $150 to transfer it to my name when I bought the truck.

They didn't really tell me much. I picked it up on Saturday and my service guy wasn't there. The reciepts don't really say much at all. When I talked with the service manager during the week he just mentioned that something had broken in the valve body.

Hopefully it was just a fluke, cause I would hate for anyone else to go through this nonsense.

In the end, it all worked out. I just wish I had bought an extended warranty when I bought the truck. It would have paid for my rental car for the few weeks I waited for parts.

Same thing happened to my 2005 in October. When I crawled underneath and realized I couldn't move the shift lever on the tranny by hand I had it towed to the dealer.

Joe,

I wish I had tried that first before buying the new cable just to have it break. Hopefully I will get reimbursed for it.
