I should mention that I just saw a pair on my way to work today and felt embarrased for the guy in the truck.

the housing kit seems good, but than you will need the bearing kit, axle seals, and lube, than you will need to check what spline your axles are running. there is a lot to a rear end. also what you do to the back, might as well do to the frt. and than after 500 miles, you need to rip it apart again. inspect the system and put new fluid back in.

i am leaning towards just letting the guy do it and paying him. but i dont want to get taken to the cleaners either. if it was a motor issue... i could do it myself. but i have never had to work on my own differentials befor. i am not too proud to admit that. but i am too leary of paying for crap i dont need...
Hey man, I am in the same boat, I have assisted plenty times and they can be a bitch... well more time consuming if anything, I would do the same thing if you know the guy too... well know him enough that he wont screw ya. Thats what happens to alot of ppl, they get screwed cause they dont know. Around here tires seem to be the thing that most get screwed on... the salesman prays on ppl who think they need the highest priced tire even if it is crap.

You can probably find a how-to video on YouTube. The guys on the Power Block make it look easy. Adjusting the lash seems to be the tricky part.
