on a 2008 Dakota? I have 2 Hella foglights, and 1 Hella driving light, and I would like to just drill into bumper and mount them with a nut and bolt. Will this work? Is there any problem with the plastic covering on the bumper?

what we all have been doing is drilling into the cross bar in front of the radiator... it just has to shine through the grill then... as for the bumper... i don't think they are sturdy enough...

I have see this and seems to work, I would put a lightweight plate under the bumper to give some strangth so the bumper wont flex to much, but it should work

I installed my driving lights on the cross member but didn't do any drilling. There are 2 bolts on each end of the beam and I removed the inside one and used that. Perfect placement. They are hooked up by a 30 amp toggle switch in the cab. looped with the positive on the battery and then grounded to the chassie. Really easy install.
I'm going to try to drill, and see what happens. I'll make sure the light is forward enough so the hood will clear on opening. and possibly put in a reinforcing bar of galvanized steel if i can figure out how to squeeze it in between the plastic and the metal.

why dont you try to make brackets that connect to the grill frame, so when you open the hood the lights go up with the grille. When you close the hood they will sit where you want them to sit. You probablly won't have to drill at all if you use existing mounting points on the grille frame.
