A lot of people don't like the newer design.

I know there's at least 2 or 3 guys around here with 08+ daks that haven't posted in this thread yet. I'm not sure if all of them are still around regularly though.

Guilty as charged. Generally speaking, I like my TRX, but the same as with my last 3 Dakotas, this one also has those pesky little problems that seem to haunt Dodge vehicles (or at least Dakotas)...

The Canadian sticker price, including GST and PST, shipping, everything, would have been $43,000. I paid $26,600. Used car dealers were mad because I'm getting mine new for less than the used price. $43,000 is a good chunk of change, and I would not have boughten it without an incentive. Probably would never even have boughten a truck period. This one comes with a club cab, and quite a few options, but it's still just a 6 banger engine.

VA Dakota here: I'm still around and check the forum often.
No problems with my 08, but only have 5000 miles on it.

That is not a bad deal really. You bought a club cab V6 with some options for about 20194. Converted to US dollars. But Canada is charging 33,000US sticker for that truck? Wow that is expensive.

My second dakota was a V8 quad cab 4x4 new loaded for the same price (33,000 us).

Can Canadians come across the border to buy cars then drive them back to register? Anyway glad you got your dakota for a good price.

Godspeed.

that's right, Canadian sticker price is 43,000 Canadian -
talk about sticker shock and Canadians getting cheated. Last year, I bought a Subaru Impreza from the US dealer in Minneapolis, and I saved about 8,000$ by doing that. But last year, Canadian dollar was at par. Now it's only 75 cents, so I would be better off buying my Subaru in Canada this year.

I'm actually happy I got my 6 banger, because it runs good on regular gas - premium gas in Canada costs 40 cents more per gallon, so even if the 8 banger gets the same mileage, the fuel costs make is like 3 mpg less.
Also the 6 banger has only 6 spark plugs, but the 8 banger has 16 plugs, so more costly to do tune ups.

Subaru only allows Canadians to buy used from USA. Probably the same holds with other makers, they don't like Canadians crossing the border to take advantage of a favorable exchange. Problem now the Canadian dollar sunk like a stone, now that oil prices dropped like they did, so Alberta Tar Sands oil is not bringing in the currency like it did when oil prices were at 140US.

In one place, my owners manual shows the 08 4.7l V8 HO only runs on Premium Unleaded 91 or higher. But now I'm reading another place in the manual, says that 91 Octane is Recommended, but not required. For Canadians that means pricey gas, and that's why the dealer had 10 of the 12 Dakota's with V6, and only 2 with V8. I expect the performance and therefore mileage using regular gas in the V8 would be less, and the knock sensor would be working constantly to retard the timing.
