If someone opened their down and hit MY truck with their stupid *** car, you better believe they'd fix it. But that would be insurance....this is about ROCKS and RUST. Not who slashed this or what person hit my door. Seriously now.
A warranty from the manufacturer is a guarantee against defects, it's not meant to cover things outside the dealer's control. If the paint had no rock chips and was just rusting by itself that is clearly a manufacturing defect and should be covered. If it has been chipped by rocks while you were driving that's completely outside of their control, I don't know why you expect it to be covered. No matter what type of coating is used if the rock chips through to bare metal that metal will rust. There are many variables that can affect how fast it rusts including the climate where you are and what type of chemical/salt mix they use on the roads. Nobody likes rock chips, they suck and yes they're annoying but they're a fact of life. Especially when you drive a truck, higher up and typically more aggressive tires, well there's a lot more chance you'll be kicking rocks up at the lower body.

As far as other vehicles don't rust that quickly, well I really believe that's a "grass is greener on the other side" reaction. I have rock chips rust right off on my best friend's 07 silverado, another friend's 06 Tacoma, my mom's 00 Explorer. If you have bare metal and it's during winter it's going to rust faster than you can blink at it. You really want to see paint issues go check out some of the Subie forums or newer honda forums, those guys seem to be having a lot more trouble with their paint than anything we've had here.

"everyone that thinks they shouldn't, well... where's your brain?" Insulting a large group of members and then trying to say the thread is over is rather immature don't you think?

This is a public forum, being the starter of a thread does not give you the right to censor or close it at will. Rarely will you like or agree with every single person's opinion but so long as they do so within the rules the have a right to post them.

The prices dont go way up, research your info before opening your mouth. 35k is suggested msrp for fully loaded, 4x4 quadcab with the v8 and all the bells and whistles. And by suggested, it means it advice to the dealers. When I looked for my truck, I looked at quadcabs within $1k of mine, yeah $27-28k. Regardless of the economy, Ill show you less than $33k quite loaded quadcabs all day long.

It would no longer be my thread because it would be nonexistant and it would actually look quite funny as if everyone was just arguing with themselves.
You really think there are only two people on this forum that don't think this should fall under warranty? As far as mature or immature please re-read that paragraph you posted and think about it.

Ok, now that I've cleaned up this mess, this thread has two options. Either people act mature and the thread continues as a discussion, or the ridiculousness continues and it will be locked. I expect some decency around here.

The funny part is at the bottom of the forum page where the adds read "Stop Corrosion"...or "30% Rust Poofing"

My old Ranger had a big dent the size of a softball on the top of the front fender from where a meteor hit it. No ****. It was the only explaination I could come up with. Anyway, it blew the paint right off on impact. After 2 years of exposed metal there was zero rust. None of the deep scratches in the bed ever rusted either. I don't know what they did to it, but they should do it to all cars.

Whatever the problem is, there is no way it is directly related to Dodge quality. Dodge makes the best vehicles.

I don't understand why there is so much rust around the radiator support and parts of the frame that are covered by body panels. I took mine apart, sanded it down and sealed it up with rust converter and put another coat of paint. As the truck starts to rust, I'm going to paint the whole thing with chassis saver.
