Default Factory step tube part number??

I have a set of chrome step tubes on my '05 CC Laramie. The chrome is peeling big time on the RH step. The other is fine. Dealer won't take care of it of course, so I'm on my own. Wondering if I can buy just a replacement tube? I've found the part number for the entire kit easy enough, but can't find the number for just the one tube so I can see what it's going to cost me. Anyone?

Thanks much, -Al

Mine are both peeling bad!! I think I'll just sand them down and paint them flat black.

You might try puting black Rhino liner or Equivalent on them, it will take any abuse and still look good.

The liner idea hadn't crossed my mind, but I had considered painting them if I can't find/afford a new step. Exellent idea!! Thanks, -Al

My opinion: Paint doesn't stick very well to chrome so it needs to be removed before painting. If the chrome is already peeling, the black paint will peel off with it.
Black-painted ss tube steps from Summit cost about $200 and look good. Rhino Liner or Line-X might be close to $200. Rust Olium has a good semi-gloss black spray paint that I've used on my Jeeps and it can easily be repainted when it scratches.
If I were Dollar-Challanged, I'd go with the paint.

Semi-gloss a good idea too. Thanks! I'm with you that this will be an ongoing project as the chrome continues to peel. Thought maybe the Rhino (or whatever) Liner might seal it well enough to help prevent further peeling at some point?

Would still like to know what a replacement tube is worth?

They have to rough up the surface pretty good for the Rhino to have a good bond. All that peeling chrome would get stripped right off when they prep it. The great thing about the stuff is it's practically indestructible.
