Default Braking thud

So I am a recent owner of a Dodge 2007 Dakota Quad cab 4x4 with ABS. What I am not sure is if it Four wheel or rear whell abs. The manual says it could be either. So I am not sure how to tell. Sometimes I feel the pulsing of the pads in front and sometimes not. What else I can tell you is that when riding the brake lightly, in 2wd, I hear a thud from the back end of the truck. Almost like the sound of something engaging or disengaging. Not sure if it is the drive train doing something bad or something else. Any one else have this happen before? or know what to look for?

sounds to me like you have a shoe binding up, and when the spring decides to release it, it just goes thud. depending on the mileage, i would bring it in, and have the dealer check it out

I had sandbags in my bed for winter driving. When the froze up, they got slippery and would scoot around. Even under light braking, I would get a big *thud*...and feared the worst. Turns out it was the sandbags banging around.

I know it sounds crazy, but you don't have anything big rolling around in the bed do you?

The brakes on my '07 have been problem free so far. But I also have 2WD and a manual, so it's less weight and less braking effort with downshifting.

Do you have an LSD (rear differential)? Sometimes they make popping noises. Usually shortly after cornering. Sticky rear shoe is also likely. '07?? Hopefully you are immune to the axle TSB.

Nope no sandbags, dead bodies, or salt bags in the back.

It happens no matter what speed on straight aways, and only so far when I am in 2wd Haven't noticed it in 4wd cause it has been dry so far since I have gotten the truck.
