Default Exhaust help

I recently swapped my stock muffler with a magnaflow 16" 5x9 oval muffler. Its barely louder than what it was with the stock muffler. I would like a little bit more growl out of it. My exhaust has 2 resonators on it...a big one in front of the muffler and a small one near the tailpipe. Which one should I take off? I don't want it obnoxiously loud or resonating in the cab, but definitly more so than it is now. It sounds almost like stock. My dakota is a 08 with a 4.7 motor. Thanks in advance for your response.

The large one is the resonator and the smaller one is the muffler. Remove both and weld a straight pipe back to your Magnaflow. You will hear the difference, I promise.

Definitely remove the rear resonator. It looks ugly. It might just give you the sound you're looking for.
I like mine with both resonators gone, too.

I concur with this post, Not only will you get the sound your looking for, But you are also getting rid of some weight, and freeing up some flow. "Get the air in Quik" and let it out Quik, "Remember your engine is 1 big air pump"..........

I removed the forward one and welded in a straight pipe. The difference is noticeable inside and out, the economy maybe is slightly better. The stock can is stainless and very similiar to aftermarket models. The tubing is large enough that i kept it in.

Thanks for the info...I think I'll remove the rear resonator first and see how it sounds...afraid if I remove the front one too it may be too loud.
