couldnt justify the $. i did do a lot of research before i purchased one though. ended up gettin a whistler pro 78. its got the newest revision, which is C. its not usb upgradeable, but the firmware is. i can send it back to whistler everytime there is a revision, spend like 25 bucks and they will update it. read a lot of good reviews over this one, and i really like it. i can def see the improved distance between this and my crappy old cobra. also, it filters out a lot of false alarms and is very customizable. i really like mine. just couldnt cough up the dough for a beltronics, escort, or valentine

either way, i drilled a VERY small hole in front of the thick metal brace which is under the dash. well actually i didnt drill anything, i used a self tapping jig type thing and spun it by hand. it came out great, very clean. the hole is located directly in the center of the dash, between both middle air vents. then i spliced into the radio power supply and ground. easy as that. took 15 minutes. after doing it once, i could do it again in half the time.

and its Teke from now on haha jk
Cool. I went to school in PA (East Stroudsburg University - Div. II school - Zeta Pi Chapter of ZBT). I think you mentioned to me a while back that had a cousin who was a ZBT (Theta Chapter at UPenn). I am an Alumni volunteer still. I am an advisor to the UCSD Chapter here in San Diego and the Executive Trustee at my Alma Mater.

Anyway, I have an Escort 8500 and is it already hardwired. However in CA, you can't have anything hanging from your windshield as I had it previously next to the mirror. So, I need to relocate the wire and unit.

Thanks for the info.
