Default Rancho Shocks Help

Ok I went to Sears & a local tire dealer here in FL and had BFG AT TA KO tires installed. Both places advertized they sell the Rancho brand of Shock. Both places came up with different part number for a 05 and a 07 Dak. The prices where insane from both places. Sears wanted $99.00 apiece for the rears shocks and $196.00 for each front. Free installation at Sears. Free my ***. The Monroe line was far cheaper. Anyone try the Monroe’s yet? What is the best price that DF members came up with for the Rancho line?

Yep you got it Eric... both shocks are made by Tenneco Inc

Some other info about Tenneco and what they are involved in Brand-wise http://www.tenneco.com/OurBrands/Overview/

So that’s a no brainer, right? Why spend the money on the Rancho brand when you can get the same shock from Monroe. Are we saying that the dampening (valving) and material quality is the same between the two?

Thanks for the link to the Monroe’s. Has anyone tried the Monroe’s? Is it a worth while improvement? I have been reading that the Ranchos are a major well worth it improvement but found no reviews on the Monroe’s.

They're the same product. It's like saying GMC trucks are better than Chevy.

Ok just got off the phone with Rock Auto about the Rancho shocks. They claim that there is no Rancho shocks made for my 2007 Dakota. I said please call Rancho for me and find out if this just a info catch up thing being the front and rear shocks are only listed for 05 and rear only listed for 06 and nothing at all for 07. The Rock Auto reprehensive after supposedly talking to Rancho said that Rancho claims that it is true they still have nothing for 07 on up. Rock Auto do claim to have in stock all four shocks from Monroe for a 07 Dakota. Anyone with a 07 4X4 with Rancho installed. This all sounds like BS from four shock dealers. Sears, Gatto Tires, Shock Warehouse and Rock Auto. I may just order the Monroe’s because I’m burning out talking to there factory reps.

graythang,

I have an '07 Laramie QC 4x4 as well and found out the exact same thing about Rancho. A couple of places said Rancho has nothing for an '07 Dakota, only '05 and '06. (Not sure what the difference is???) Anyway, I ordered the Monroe's from Shockwarehouse and they are in my garage ready to be installed. Just have to find the time and place to have them done. I ordered KYB rear shocks from them as well but they are on backorder.
