Non H.O 4.7 temps'.
Last fall I installed one of them 180 thermostats. Yesterday during our first warm day, 92 degrees I watched my temp. needle slowly climb one needles' width past the half-way mark on the dial before I got home. The needle had been riding about 2 needle widths below the half-way mark. Some of the driving was stop and go but I was going at least 40 MPH between lights. Our lights are spaced at least 1/4 mile apart. No the AC was not on. So what do you guys consider as, "normal" as far as to where the temp'. needle sits at????
my 180 stat, sits about 1/4 up from the bottom, when i get on it it the temp will rise slightly but not much, anything over half may be an issue, how many miles on truck?, if and when was the system back flushed., is the radiator clean and free of debris?
The thermostat is from Jet Performance. I remember while installing it that the instructions said something about making sure the, "bleeder hole"?? was in a particular position. I'm having some seconds thoughts as to if I installed it in the right position. If I installed it in the wrong position would this be the cause? The truck still has the original fan setup and it only has 10,500 miles on it. Also I've seen some stuff, I believe it's called, "wet" or "wetter" at the parts store. It's supposed to lower your water temp'. about 10-15 degrees any thoughts on the stuff??

ive never done one on our trucks yet. but if its anything like most chryslers, you cant put it in backwards. also when you added coolant back into the system, did you burb it for bubbles? cavitation is not an engine's best friend.

oh, you can put them in backwards... trust me.
If i am running AC on a hot day, mine will creep up to half way or slightly over it... turn the AC off and its right back to normal... So its similar, but not the same.
I didnt drill a hole in my napa stat, was I supposed to? I never did on the last one either...

OK, that does it. I'm pulling it first thing Monday morning. Guess I'll call Jet and get some instructions from them. Also did I read somewhere that NAPA part # 530080, (thermostat) will fit the 4.7 if you cut out a small notch for the gasket. I hope the thermostat is ok I would hate to even think of buying another, too expensive. The spring side goes toward the engine, right??

the napa 530080 stat is the correct one and for 6.00 you cany go wrong, just remember to cut that little notch out, i have ben running that stat for 3 years now, good investment, and the good thing, is when it fails, it is in the open position. not the closed, so truck wont overheat
