Talking New Dak Owner

Hi. I just joined this forum a couple of weeks ago when I got my father-in-law's almost new 2006 Dakota. I put photos up here. I'm probably not going to be modding it very much, because I have a 92 Corvette which is heavily modded for drag racing, and this Dak would be more useful to take the racecar to and from the drag strip than as a racer. I've been reading posts here going back the last year, and I'm grateful for all the helpful info. As a newbie, I'm not a source of advice but I'll be happy to receive any.

Thats a pretty nice truck you've got there. When you get a chance throw up some vids of your racer.

Welcome! I guess your father-in-law lived in FL. Those Palms aren't in MA are they?

Nice color! I also notice you don't have a V8 badge...how much weight are you going to be pulling with the trailer and 'Vette?

The total weight would be about 4,000 lbs. The distance is 75 miles level ground, and I wouldn't do that tow very often. If I anticipated more frequent tows of that weight, I'll install a tranny cooler.

Actually, I don't think, but perhaps someone here who has tried it can chime in. According to a table on the Dodge web site, I can tow up to 4,500 lbs with the 3.55 rear axle. I wouldn't want to do that very often, but backing down to 4,000 lbs once in a while doesn't seem like too much of a stretch. Gas money, sure.
