Default Removing tailgate handle

I am replacing the tailgate on my 05 dakota. How do I remove the tailgate handle? I can't seem to get the handle bezel off.

I install a poplock on mine just the 3 screws on the inside on the tailgate,
and than I would think a couple of clips or something would hold it in place,
I sure someone will chip in with more

Yeah it seems like the bezel should just pop out but I can't get it too. Has nobody actually removed this or what

IIRC, when I was installing the electrical pop&lock it is held on by 4 clips/hooks...pick a corner and carefully work it out or you'll break it. Once you get the first one loose, the others will follow much more easily.

Same here. Remove the three screws from inside the tailgate and it should pop off. Be care when removing the bezel as you don't want t' break the plastic clips incase you are planning on reusing it. If not, no worries.

Well I managed to get the bezel off and got my new tailgate on today. The bottom clips broke off but no big deal I used some automotive trim tape and its as good as new!

Thanks also to people who mentioned the trick about taking the emblems off with fishing line, worked great!
