Another question v. Mopar Remote Start
#11
ok. i went back out there and the only thing i see that could be a remote start box is a white box located just above the brake pedal area. there is a pin that comes out of this box that connects to the brake pedal so when the pedal is depressed the pin comes out and when it is static, the pin is pressed in. Is this it? or just a regular brake part, lol?
I am truly hoping this truck has the remote start function already.

The 07 Dakota Laramie was the first of the remote starts installed as standard equipment. I had seen a few 07 SLTs on the lot in 07 with the factory units on the stickers but the dealer must had them installed as optional equipment. The MoPar accessory package remote start is the same except for a few differences. The key fob is a separate smaller fob. The antenna is an interior windshield mounted part unlike the factory unit that is hidden. The hood position sensor is a plunger switch on the factory installed units where the MoPar unit is a tilt switch that you install on the underside of the hood. That is all the differences I could find. I have the factory unit on my 07 Laramie and my buddy has the MoPar non factory installed unit so that’s how I know the differences.

That’s really cool they replaced both the fob and the switch. The hood tilt switch became a problem for my buddy's Dak as it was hard to position so it would work correctly. But beware the plunger switch sometime doesn’t make full depression with the hood closed and there is no adjustment. I had to install a rubber bumper on the hood so to have the switch compress enough for contact. The dealer mechanic saw that and said he was going to recommend this to the service manager since they had so many come in for the problem and had no switch adjustment to render a repair.

FWIW, I found this post via google as I was trying to turn off the horn chirp when I lock the doors. It worked by holding the UNLOCK button for 4 seconds and then PANIC for an additional 6.
Hope this helps someone!
