Default Flowmaster 2.5" in single 2.5" Dual Out Questions.

[sm=nxsmile.gif]

Hi all. thank you for coming in and reading.

I just bought a `05 Dakota CC v8 4.7l (Not-HO version) Truck and loving it.
I coming from a `95 Ext Cab Ford Ranger v6 4.0l.

I'm trying to find any information that will help me in my quest for help with my new 4.7l truck.

The muffle i want is the Delta Flow Flowmaster 40 Single in Dual Outs.

The pipe size is 2.5". Should i stick with 2.5" in and dual 2.5" out, or go down to the 2.5" in and dual 2.25" out?

2nd. With my Ranger in order to have the exhaust straight out the back i had to remove the spare tire. Is there enough room under the `05 Dakota go straight out without having to remove the spare tire or should i have both pipes running out the side behind the right rear tire? Straight out the back I think looks Badass. I was Very Pleased with the sound of the Flowmaster 40 on my v6 4.0l I can't Hardly Wait to hear how it sounds coming out of the Dakota.
Its going to be like. Oh Hey You,... [sm=hia.gif] [sm=guilty.gif] It's Me heh.

I was checking out Flowmaster Muffler Inc. and they suggest the

(From Site) Because of its compact size and Designed to support up to 400 horsepower, the Hushpower II can often be used as a replacement in many vehicles. It is available in 2.00", 2.25", and 2.50' inlet/outlets. Its small case measures 18" X 5.50" X 4.00" (24" overall length with inlet and outlet). It says it has a Mellow 50 Tone. Before i go out and Buy a Delta Flow 40 single in dual outs does anyone off the top of their head know if theres enough room under there for a 19" Long - 9.75" Wide - 4" deep Flowmaster Muffler? Does anyone know what the sizes are for the current standard muffler from factory is would they?

I can't find a picture of the underbody of the truck anywhere online so i can look or if anyone know of one for a 2005 please post it here or let me know please.

The HushPower II is about 2x's the Price and i already know i like the sound of the 40.

Thank you again for your time.

Well,... I made my purchase today.
I bought the Delta Flow Flowmaster 40 2.5" Single in center and Dual 2.25" outs SKU# 9425422 I purchased it from Delray Beach House of Mufflers 1-800-276-6399 for $54.00 Overnight shipping was like $9 total $63.00. LOL thats still $20.00 cheaper then the ones they wanted here in my town. I've decided to have the exhaust run out the back, should look nice and sound good to.

If anyone is interested in pictures let me know.
Anyone need a `05 Dakota v8 4.7l Muffler / Like New with 55 miles on it? Maybe i'll put it up on eBay and sell it.

That's an upgrade that I've been wanting to do to my '92 for a long time. I already have the muffler, just trying to get the $225 for the piping. I have the Flowmaster 40 series (not Delta flow) single 3" in/ 2.5" dual out.

You don't happen to know if they're going to give you any grief in regards to the warranty, do you?
My little 3.7 could use all the help it can get.

The only thing that i could think of with them giving me a hard time about anything would be that they wouldnt cover it under warranty, it was worth the cost to me plus down here in the sun it might be better for it vs. the northern salt issues so should last long time i hope.

I'm looking at the same setup. So, were you able to work around the spare tire?

Yeah the dual outs way cleared it. The tech put the muffler in the same location as the old one was. If you look in behind the i think the right rear maybe its the left what you see is the 1 of the 2 Resonators. The pipe coming from the outlets fit about 2" away from the spare tire coming out the back. Both the tech and the Shop owner said that it was more then enough clearance and shouldnt have any problem,...

But yeah you sould have no problems either. Once your truck is up on the life check it out. its a much better view.

I got more pics of the Resonators and exhaust on my site if you havent seen them already.
If you got any questions i have no problems helping you out as much as i can so let me know.

When are you going to do this?
Did you check out delray beach house of muffler for prices? So far of anywhere their price is by far the lowest. if you find a lower one let me know and i can post that info on my site as well. I need as much info on everything i can for the site.

Actually, I've already purchased the muffler. I found a brand new one (sealed) on ebay for $53.95 after shipping. I knew I wouldn't be able to find a better deal. Now, I'm trying to decide on some tips. What size inlet does your tips have?

WOOT Gratz man,...
Yeah $54 is a great price including shipping to. Good Job.

So,.. when do you get it? which one did you get?
Dual outs or what?

My tips are 3" in and 6" out. My duals out of the muffler are only 2.25" pipe. It's no biggie for them to build that up to fit for ya. I'm sure they do that all the time.

Another thing,.. 3" or 2.25" pipe out the muffler really doesnt matter because the bends and turns in the pipe are 2.25" anyway so thats why i just went with the 2.25" outs and 2.5" single in.

Is this your 1st Flowmaster?
Your gonna love it.

Take some pics and let us see.

Jim.
