horse power
Do like I did, remove the rear seats... in the CC they are useless anyways, and ditch the spare tire...
That's what roadside assistance is for.
Based on my direct experience with my 05 DAK 4x4 4.7L HO:
If you dont have the HO motor, consider installing HO cams but they are on back order just about everywhere.
Cold Air intake is very noisy but it does add about 7hp at WOT. More if you install an aftermarket oversize throttle body which alone will add about 11hp at WOT.
For Hilly terrain street machine and towing: change out gears from the 3.92 to 4.10 ($1300 installed for G2 ring and pinion both axles at 4wheelparts.com) My experience is better MPG due to staying in a higher gear more often. I have a bit of a whine from the rear differential above 45mph but I'm battling it out with the local installer over his set-up.
Cheeper way to accomplish that is to drop down from the stock 265/70/16 tires (30.16 inche height) to 245/70/16 tires (29.5 inch height) which equates to about a 4.07 ratio. You lose about 400 lbs per tire max weight rating though.
Superchips Cortex 3950 & Flashpaq 3865 advertises considerable gains in HP and torque if you want to use 91 or 93 octane gas.
Headers will give you added HP only above 4000 RPM if you keep the CATS.
If you have an extra $5k sitting around, have the heads ported (and milled if you want to increase compression ratio).
My truck dynos out from the original 250hp to 325hp @ 4200rpm
My total expenses for all new parts including labor; gears, throttle body, intake, heads, cortex 3950: $7500 ($100 per extra pony). Yep, it would have been cheaper to trade it it on a Ram 1500 hemi but I LUV MY DAK.
Another option is to find a used complete engine and PCM from a salvaged 08 - 10 DAK rated at 290hp but every one I've consulted claims that there are some considerable wiring compatibility issues.

Soooooo, you have 325 at the crank, cuz the 250 is at the crank, as well... I know you have an automatic transmission, and the awesomeness that is dodge's auto transmission is, has about 20-30% power loss...
So, you're at, on the low end of power loss, 260 to the wheels or 228 to the wheels...
Interesting...
My truck, was at 197 to the wheels, and that was before the exhaust/intake/bigger throttle body/electric fan/programmer/power wire mods that I have done to it since... basically a stock run...
So, adding up your power gains... I'd have 215 to the wheels right now, with just the intake and bigger throttle body... add in the exhaust, e-fan, programmer, and power wire, and i must be at about another 10 - 20...
So that means I must be pushing about 225 - 235...?
Interesting... you've put 7500 dollars into your motor, where me, I've put, like 600 and according to your math, I have comparable numbers...
Oh ya, I have the six speed manual transmission, though.
That sucks for you.

That is some great advice you have offered. I would love to see your dyno sheets. With just the blower added at 11psi I hit over 301 rwhp on the dyno. Since then I went to a 14 psi pulley, added 4.10 gears, alky injection etc. I should be sitting close to 400 rwhp, as we speak ASP racing is building a COG setup for my supercharger vice the standard belt/pulley.
I know the 08 has two plugs per cylinder just like the Hemi. If Hemifever can write a hemi tune onto Duty05's 4.7L PCM, I bet an 05 PCM can be programmed for the 08 4.7L.

Yep, perhaps I spent more $$$ than necessary without fully investigating all the options but my objective was towing performance at part throttle low and mid-range RPM without sacrificing "stock driveability".
I wish I had your six speed manual tranny with a quick change mechanic on standby to do the the conversion on a moments notice for the 3 or 4 times a year that I take road trips. That 545 RFE is a good solid tranny for a daily driver but it has a mind of its own when towing.
If I had the extra bucks to support a third vehicle for road trips only I would get a set up like yours.
All I wanted was to enhance towability for my RV in high altitude mountainous terrain in 100 degree plus heat. (my $7500 also included an oversize radiator, tranny cooler w/fan, auxilliary flex-a lite radiator fan which amounted to about $1,500 of the total)

Hey, I'm over 60 y/o and while I still harbor fond memories of my racing days during the age of muscle cars in the 60's, all I want is comfort and convenience with my street machine these days.
But I have to say that after spending several hundred hours perusing performance related posts on these forums that I'm thinking about building up a weekend racer.
Now, if I do that, doesn't it make sense to switch over to the small block chevy forum???? No problems finding inexpensive performance there...right?
