Exhaust?
So I'm thinking about getting an exhaust for my V8.. I really don't have the money for a $500 full system, so I was thinking of just getting a muffler and going to a shop and have them configure it. So far from reading threads here I've come to the conclusion that flowmaster sucks, and magnaflow and cherrybomb are the best. My question is: Is the buying a muffler and bringing it to the shop a good idea, and if so, should I do dual or single? What brand?
Thanks, Kyle

I posted awhile back on my exhaust system.
I put on a Magnaflow and dumped BOTH resonators. It has a nice sound around town when you get on it. It really hums when it's pulling up a grade.
Depending on the rpm's out on the highway it will either please you or drive you up a wall.
I found about 2200 rpm (around 80 mph) is livable.
I guess everybody is different when it comes to hearing things.
I've never heard the cherrybomb muffler.

I would guess you could gain some power with duals, but at what cost???
I am contemplating adding a cold air induction, however they are pretty PRICEY and other than hearing the air sucking when you get on it I'm wondering if it's really worth it. Got to give this more thought.
As far as supplying your own muffler, I wouldn't think it would make any difference.
They (shop) might jack up the labor cost to make up for the loss in supplying the muffler for you, but I could be wrong.

I would say the shop may or may not charge a slight bit more if you bring in your own muffler. Some shops might not even allow it beings they make more of their money on the materials side. My Cherrybomb Pro has a nice tone, and it doesnt drone on the highway at any RPMs. It also sounds pretty when its pulling
I would say duals is personal preference at our level of performance...

Most shops won't mind if you bring your own, saves them ordering it and if you don't like it it's your problem. They will charge you a fixed price to install that they are happy with so it's win win.
