I would like to add a little power to my stock 3.7 it is a total dog... what steps should i take. exaust, gears, headers, new throttle body? help please. i know i wont make a v8 but i would like it to be a little fun but still be a v6 if that makes sense.

I have KN Air Charge Intake love it
I have 2.5'' custom cat back with Flowmaster 50 series with delta flow sounds like a V8
I saw a pulley on AirRam.com but i dunno if it will work on are trucks.
Over christmas break I am planning on getting the JBA header for the 3.7L Nitro and fitting them to my Raider i will let everyone know how it goes.

Perhaps the best way to start is to find out what gear ratio you are running now?

Go with some 4.10's if you want some get up and go. This will make for a higher engine revs, therefore less mpg. But you will jump off the line MUCH differently than running 3.55's.

Depends what RPM you deem tolerable at highway speeds. Do you have the automatic trans or manual? If you have an auto, then I think 4.10's would be pretty peaceful on the interstate.

With stock tires, 4.10 gears, automatic in overdrive, you would be clipping along at 2,069 RPM at 65 MPH.

4.56 gears push you to 2,331 RPM at the same speed.

The manual trans is buzzier, since it's geared lower. 4.10's at the most for me. But having 6 transmission gears to choose from makes it easier to overcome the 3.21's.

MPG will suffer slightly.

And be careful about sinking alot of money into a 3.7L. Intake if you want, decent exhaust, good plugs and fluids. Keep up a good maintenance schedule.

Get gears if you are disappointed with the truck's performance. You'll never get to 300 HP. Or 250. I'd be suprised if you can get a 3.7L to put 235 to the crank with bolt ons.

well I myself have the 3.7 and I put a new intake on it and flowmaster exhaust. I have been considering shaving the heads down a lil geting the comp ^ and a new y pipe collector thats a littl less restrictive. as well as headers. and I'll be putting a chip on it or a flash completely.

To each their own, I wouldn't ever spend the money required to take the engine apart. Intake, exhaust, good maintenance and fluids.

It's just too much work and money to make a slow truck a little less slow.
