Definitely a bad idea in my book. I've seen a couple 3G Dakotas with plows, and they look awful. The front end rides on the ground. I can't believe guys even put plows on their halftons.
It's alot of stress on the truck, any way you cut it. And as was mentioned above, the front 18" of our trucks' frames is not meant to be load bearing, unless you crash...
The plow trucks my company owns are only F350's and F450's. They are built to handle what amounts to a bunch of small front end collisions every winter.

Towing is a lot different than plowing. Pulling a trailer isn't hurting your truck cuz it has wheels. Pushing a plow can be more stressful on your trucks frame. Imagine having a plow on and hitting a lil stump, u will feel it for sure. Thats what it feels like when your plowing frozen ground when you hit a rock on a back road. I would want one on my truck.
