Odometer Error
After starting my 2005 dakota this morning i recieved an error message on my odometer. No check engine light, or anything else seemed wrong. It seems to run just as good, with no apparent reason for the error. I recieved no error codes when attempting to get them. Has anyone else had any of the same problems and if so how have you resolved them? Is there anyway to do a reset and see if this clears the error message?
Any help would be appreciated, if the error doesnt correct itself i'll have to run down to the dodge dealer and have them give it a look over, so far they've said just to look it over it'll cost over a hundred bucks, so hopefully it wont come to that. This poor school boy cant afford that :P

Yes it seems out of line. I read a thread on how to change it out and it looks not to bad. My odomoter is reading "error"does it as soon as i open the door. I scanned it with my obd2 code reeader and got No Codes. I also diconected the battery for half a day still nothing. Everything else seems to work fine speedo is reading normal. If a cluster is less then a 100 it is cheaper then taking it to the dealer for trouble shooting. But what if it is not the cluster what then?
Thanks Matt

Try this first, hold down the 'reset' button, the button on the left of the cluster, and turn the key to the 'on' position (Do not start the truck). The cluster will run a self check, maybe that will tell us something. Next you'll probably have to pull out the cluster, and check the wiring and plug connections (2), clean them up and plug it back in and test it again. Do not start or turn the key forward while the cluster plugs are separated, or the CEL will light up, and you'll get a few error codes (I know because I did it,
).

It sounds like your cluster can't communicate with your PCM as it should. I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as nothing else is going on. But it's possible it's just the connections or wiring. The mileage may still be adding up, but you just can't monitor it with your display.
