Question Recommendations for an air intake?

This won't be THAT soon, but I'd like to give it some thought...As I do want to increase my MPG as much as I can.

Which air intake would you guys recommend?

On Autoanything the K&N 57 Series Fuel Injection Air Intakes (FIPK) has over 2k really GOOD reviews on it. I found this model on ebay new for $220. Upon giving it more thought, I found that there is a 77 Series model. This one has fewer reviews though (900 reviews). It's also a little bit more in price...

I'm mostly looking to save a few bucks on gas if anything.

Can someone please chime in to give their opinion or experience? My gut feeling is telling me to get the 57 Series off of ebay because I may not need the "better" one.

I went with the plastic one because it keeps more heat out. K&n's dyno showed a 2hp gain I believe over the aluminum too.

Forced Induction! LOL, as studly said the plastic stays cooler than the aluminum. Air flow through aluminum systems sounds great, but tends to deliver a warmer air charge.

I am running the 77 Series!

Do you guys really believe in this simple situation with a mostly stock engine that you are going to notice a difference between the aluminum and plastic? As I have posted before, yeah the 77 Series is only estimated at 7 hp compared to the plastic 63 Series which is 9 hp, but can you notice a 2 hp difference, I doubt it? haha On paper is the only place you may see a difference. From my engineering background thermal conductivity is a slight imaginable idea on affecting engine performance in this case. The air doesn't flow slow enough though the pipe long enough to soak up the heat fast enough to make a difference, to again actually make a very noticeable edge on your oppenent. A minor thermo dynamics problem would also displays a very minimal increases in air temp between the two. I found an article where AEM also concurred with this idea... http://www.truckchamp.com/index.asp?...ategory=146349 I know some of you guys will say, relocate the IAT, but again how great of a benefit is unknown, IMO. So I hardly doubt you would notice that big of a difference compared between the Aluminum of the Plastic.

I havent lost anything with the aluminum intake as far as mileage and or acceleration, its all been for the better.

Marker you can find deals where the 77series is cheap, I bought mine new for $240 shipped from an Ebay Store. It shouldnt differ that big between the 63 Series. Btw heres a picture of it....

Ah nice!

The 57 Series was $240.50 total on ebay. So far the 77 series isn't on ebay for a reasonable price. 55 it is! I think I'll go with that .

How does it sound??

"The biggest difference between the FIPK
and the 77 is the material of the intake. The 77 is a metal intake, and
the FIPK is plastic. The hp gains posted on these two products are
roughly the same"

I was kind of worried that it was plastic, but I guess 1k+ users like it on their site. I'll go with that one.

UPDATE: Autoanything proposed me a price of $236 for their 57 Series with free shipping. It beats the one on ebay! Hehe.
