Never been a Jeep guy, but
From the announcements coming out of Fiat's 5 year plan on Nov 4th it sounds like I might get my wish too. There are plans to release a diesel Wrangler in 4thQ of 2010!!!!
Now the thing I can't verify is if they are going to pull the "for export only" garbage again.
Of course, American cars can never be just what you want, even when it's obvious, so they are apparently going to go with a Fiat built one (Ingrod or somehting like that) which should still be nice but def not as cool as a Cummins (there was mention of Chrysler canceling a contract with Cummins for 1 or 2 smaller diesel engines to go in light trucks - oh droolness that would have been cool for Daks too.) The really bizarre thing was that they are going with a "start/stop" system to save mileage/emissions???!!! Why on earth they would take something that would be nearly perfect (a super-reliable and rugged diesel Wrangler) and add something wierd like that I don't know, but whatever. I still told my wife, she and I need to find 2nd and 3rd jobs so I can buy one when they come out.
