Does any one have a dakota out there with a SAS if so i wouldnt like to see some pictures. Also how complicated is it? Thanx.

SAS to me means serial attached scsi. What are you referring to?

And also why don't you want to see pictures if you are so curious?

googled "dakota sas" and only found gen 2 Solid Axle Suspension pics

There are no pictures to my knowledge of a 3rd generation Dakota with a front Solid Axle installed.

It would be as difficult, expensive and in my opinion, pointless, as any solid axle swap into any modern IFS light truck.

SAS = solid axle swap (though i think you have all caught up with that). From what I read, it seems that it could be more difficult than a typical SAS, "into any modern IFS light truck." This is because of the polygonal frame around the engine bay. Although...if anyone knows of a way to do this....I would drop a few grand to have it done :-D

send it here to CA, i'll do it for ya... thats the plan for mine once i start to have issues with my ifs, but i only have 6k miles, and still under warrenty, so it may be a little while yet before i get to mine

The front frame sections are definitely something to be considered. I think with coil springs and leading arms / radius arms, you could avoid having to attach anything ahead of the box frame.

And I'd still avoid it like the plague, but that's me.

if i had a way to get mine out there i would do it in a heart beat

thats my plan when i do it... something similar to the 90's jeep chrokee front axles, 4-link with coils

i ment to say would like some pictures and i want to do an SAS eventually so i can lift it easier. I also think i have to convert my steering to the old style im not positive though.
