Default Can't find trailer flat connector

I recently purchased a L.E.D Strip that goes between your bumper and tailgate. The instructions say that you can hook the Strip up to your 4 pin Trailer harness, but when i look for the hookup i can not find it. My original plan was to hardwire it into my tailights but now that i see i can just do that i would rather instead of cutting into my wiring harness. I read the manual and have also crawled under the truck to look for it and traced the wires and still no luck im wondering if one of you guys have had to tap into your trucks wiring harness and im wondering where, or if there is a 4 pin connector hidden or tucked up somewhere out of sight, thanks

Do you have the tow package? I am guessing no... if you have the tow package it would be to the left of your receiver hitch. Some of the guys have actually bought a 4 pin connector and just spliced into the rear tail lights. There are a couple older threads that have been posted I hope that helps. Good luck!

If you have the 7 pin setup that is usually included in the tow package. You can get an adapter like this one. Most auto parts stores carry them. Probably even Walmart.

Or if you don't have any trailer light hookups, just buy the wire sets that plug into your factory lights. Then all you do is add in a connector at the end. Most auto parts stores carry them. Even Walmart.

They will plug into the tail lights wiring harness. So no cutting or splicing is necessary. All you have to do is add in the trailer plug. Some will come with a plug added in.

my dakota came with a full mopar tow package .. but i too came across the problem of no connector .. so i take it to the dodge house and they tell me that for some reason only half of the trucks off the line had the connector and the other half didn't so i just say no problem i go to get a connector from wal mart and find out from a mopar mechanic that you have to have a module with the 4 pin or else you risk frying your ecu so i took it to the local trailer hitch place and cost about 70 buck with install .. sounds like alot but worth every penny to me to save my truck from future problems

The tow packages come with both the 4 and 7 pin in the group along with a few other added features.I have used the adapter before because I have had one. Its nice thing to have...
