Default Recommended Battery????

My 2005 4.7V8 still has the original battery which has been trouble free so far.

I'm curious as to what you folks find as a suitable replacement.

I'm thinking Interstate or Optima.

Who makes Dodge's batteries?

Thanks for any input.

Still have the stock batt in my '05, probably won't replace it till it gives me trouble. I can tell you my parents run Napa batteries in all the vehicles (they own a small electrical contracting company) and my grandfather who started the company over 30 years ago always used them as well if that tells you anything.

Interstate now owns Optima, have for a while

My shop sells Optima and Interstate

Care to know what % of the Optima's we sell come back as bad?

Best battery you can buy is a Sears Diehard. Get their top of the line model.

Yes we care to know what percent comes back! How much are you talking NJ?

My dad swears by Diehard too. He lived in Vegas for over 25 years and the desert heat is killer on batteries. They would fail while still in warranty, and he got a brand new battery on the cheap every time. Don't get me wrong about the failures, they outlasted the other brands. I left the desert a few years before he did but I have had good luck with the Napa brand.

I bought an Optima Red Top that lasted 9 years and went through 3 cars. I sold it with the last car and it was still strong. That was before they were bought out. A buddy more recently maintains a fleet of remote broadcast trucks that all had multiple Optimas....They really sucked. They say Hecho En Mexico now. I like the Napas.

For me I trust only Optimas now. I had a Red top that lasted 8yrs under heavy use. I have 2 yellow tops installed in my truck now. Before I had the Optima i had high end Diehards. I was going through a new one every other year, with heavy use.

The Diehard Platinum is getting pretty good reviews. Seems that it shares atleast a few things in common with the Odyssey brand, including the case and dry cell technology.

They are expensive, but I plan on buying one come next autumn or so.
