MBRP Exhaust for Dakota; From the Beginning
Any interest in a stock exhaust system guys? Only pay shipping and packaging costs, otherwise Im leaving it at the exhaust shop. I have no need for it but would be willing to help out someone who did.
Need to know by 2/24 @ 8:00am. Sorry for the short notice, but I just thought of it now.

Wow! This exhaust rocks. Quiet at idle, and insane when you stomp on it. The shop had it on in under 45 minutes, including taking the old system off. Total of install came to $105, and Im happy I just spent the money. It wouldnt have been fun crawling underneath there. Pictures and sound clips to come.
My brother is going to let me use his blackberry to record it this weekend.
I kind of wish it was louder at idle to show off my exhaust when parked, but its nothing more than the light "bubble." The fan from under the hood is louder than the exhuast.

Alright, for those waiting for sound clips, they should be up by Sunday night.
I got the exhaust system installed on Wednesday morning and it cost about $100. It took less than 45 minutes for the shop to remove the old system and install the new one so Im assuming everything was pretty simple and straight forward.
For the sound, Im extremly happy with it. Im glad I dont sound like every other person that lives by me who has the flowmasters super 40's that rattle my house windows everytime they decide to gun it from the stop sign.
The exhaust note almost reminds me of a glass pack muffler, but it also has a nice raspy/metallic/echo sound to it. When you get on it, thats when the echo sound comes in. It sounds pretty awesome inside the truck. At idle after the truck has warmed up, the exhaust is nothing more than a low bubble. After 1,500 rpm, it gets a little loud but not bad.
Ill get all the details for cab noise for you at certain speeds, but so far I have noticed that at 55mph on a concrete road, the tire noise is louder than the exhaust. At 40mph on a asphalt road, the noise between the exhaust and the tires are even. At no point during normal driving conditions does it become deafening. (And when I say normal, I mean just like you were out for a Sunday drive) There are very slight droans around 45 and 60, but it all depends on the driving conditions. Basically, if your RPMs are under 1500, you will barley know the exhaust is there, and at 2000rpm on the freeway, its nothing more than a little rumble. Around the city it sounds like the sound of the exhaust is coming from a truck next to you, and not your own. I couldnt be more pleased with all the aspects between the low idle noise, little to no cab drone, and once the RPMs back down after hitting OD there is little sign that the exhaust is even there.
I have never driven or rode in a truck with an exhaust system except for one time when I test drove a 03 Ram with a 4.7 that had a dual exhaust with dual Magnaflow mufflers. That truck seemed a lot more obnoxious, and it had some bad cab drone to the point where you couldnt hear the person next to you at highway speeds. So Im happy I didnt get that truck. More details to come. If you have any questions, just ask.
Not at all! Im so proud of this system. Since I have drove the truck away from the shop, every time I take of from a light all I can do is smile. Good news is the windows are tinted so hopefully no one sees otherwise they might think Im nuts.
I would do an E-fan, but Im not to sure. They sure take a lot of power from the alternator ....
