dakota to be discontinued after 2011
I will say though, either these traffic cones are very tiny or that thing would be HUGE.

Once my current Dakota needs an upgrade, this is probably the only beast I'd buy out of what's available on the current truck market.

I love the Daks size and its greatest attribute "the fully boxed frame".
The style is fresh and clean and far better looking then any mid size truck including the older smaller Tundra. My problem is the lack of quality throughout. You can tell Chrysler is dirt poor they just can’t build them as they want and should. I will miss the Dak and hate the thought of a full size. I guess I may have to look at the Tacoma or Frontier.

eww.. I know they are built here but the profits are exported. I guess its like any computer part or tv, all made or designed overseas... But damn I wish we could buy more quality stuff made in the US.
In my view, they really ought to take notes from the 97-04 Dakota take a look at the market offerings and adapt. They need to downsize it back to the 97-04 Dakota, give it baby Ram styling, offer an interesting interior, offer an I4 again as standard, offer a V6 that is actually competitive, offer an I4 Cummins, and offer a limited production 5.7L Hemi R/T.
+1 - I cant imagine how many people buy a ram just because they want a Hemi and a pickup, but they dont need a full size truck. The thing that attracted me to the Dakota was the V8. I saw a smaller truck and a big motor. Now if there was a Hemi in one, Im sure alot of people would find that attractive.

They should offer the following:
Gas engines: I4 (like the 2.4L 173HP/166ft*lbs), V6 (3.5L 250/250; or maybe the 4.0L 260/265), V8 (4.7L 310/330)
A diesel I4, or maybe a V6.
5 and/or 6 speed manual transmission. Available with any engine!!
5 and/or 6 speed automatic transmission.
Electronic and shift-on-the-fly transfer case (and a AWD transfer case)
Special options: HEMI for the speed enthusiasts, solid front axle for off-road enthusiasts.
Make a truck that could cater to just about anyones needs.
