There are so many horror stories I won't let any quick change place work on the truck unless I am in the shop watching. 2/20 of my co-workers (and i only spoke with 4 of them) have had trouble at different lube shops. When they are encouraged (ie commission) to get as many vehicles through they take shortcuts!

I am finally making the swap to synthetic Mobile 1 motor oil. Paid the extra for the mobile 1 filter as well, dang it is heavy compared to the Fram. I will install it tomorrow morning and make a new thread if I find something interesting or am bored enough to break out the camera.

Yea i took my truck to jiffylube before and they only put 4 quarts in it.

What is the size of the drain lug on the 4.7 V8(2008)? Where do you take the oil?

Thread Size or Head Size?

Autozone, Advanced Auto or most any of the Parts/Performance Shops will have a Used Oil Collection Program, where you can take your oil and dump it in one of there large holding tanks. Its free to you, they in turn sell it.

ramp looks pretty factory, or at least well made, it's not a custom/garage-job.

if I get some time I'll crawl up under there and look for marks...maybe call dodge to see what they say? dunno?

I'm thinking I might figure out a bent piece of metal or plastic to keep oil from the cross member on the oil pan too.

I can't answer about the oil plug on the v8...or frankly the v6...I just keep trying different sockets until it fits, but I take my oil to my local auto parts store, I dont' care what they do with it, it's garbage to me!

I think most of it is if not all of it. Everything I have messed with is metric. Battery cable connections (atleast I think), the front grille, the air intake system and so on.

I was looking at Fram filters and they had two thread types for the 4.7L. How do I know which one?

I used to like Fram because of the grip on the outside of the filter. But since I have joined DF i am scared to buy Fram because many people call it cardboard! but if you are looking at frams, where the heck did you find your truck type with 2 different threadings? Have you gone to an automotive store, they don't list 2 different thread types.. It is the Ph-16 or TG16, depending if you buy the toughgard or standard filter. Not 2 different thread types
