Default Yet Another Spark Plug Thread

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the top plugs are for the 08+ 4.7. I can't find any info aside from useless part numbers from the manual. If you have an 05-07 manual handy, could you please post the part number for your factory plugs? I'm wondering if they are the same.

Thanks!

Factory plugs for an 06 4.7 h/o are rc7pycb4 gapped at .040. These are listed as factory plugs and are single platinum. Regular copper plugs would be RC7YC gapped at the same .040.

Your factory spark plug information is printed on a label that is attached to the hood of your vehicle. On my 05 its located on the passenger side next to the heat blanket. This label also contains information of the fuel lines/brake lines i believe.

The factory plug info was completely useless, but I ended up finding out why. The plugs are apparently only sold OEM through dealers, at least around here. They are Bosch Supers, and are sold mainly in Europe. We get a different version here, but the part numbers don't line up. I'm going to see if I can track down some info so that maybe this can be an easier/cheaper part change for other 08+ 4.7 owners.

4.7L

<A xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
CAUTION: This engine uses TWO DIFFERENT types of spark plugs. A total of 16 plugs are used. The plugs are mounted in two rows (banks). The upper row (5) is used on the intake valve side of the cylinder head. The lower row (6) is used on the exhaust valve side of the cylinder head. The upper row (5) uses Bosch Nickel Yttrium plugs. The lower row (6) uses Bosch Iridium plugs. DO NOT INTERCHANGE THESE PLUGS.
1.Remove necessary air filter tubing and air intake components at top of engine and at throttle body.

NOTE: To remove the upper row of spark plugs (5), each individual ignition coil (2) must be removed first. 2.Remove the ignition coil(s) 3.Prior to removing the spark plug(s), spray compressed air into cylinder head opening. This will help prevent foreign material from entering combustion chamber.
CAUTION: Due to tight clearances between UPPER row of plugs (5) and cylinder head, a conventional deep, thick-wall spark plug socket will not fit. Use a deep, THIN-WALL 5/8” spark plug socket for plug removal and installation.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean any of the spark plugs. Replace only.
4.Remove the spark plug(s) and inspect their condition.

Thanks for the info. Found out the thin wall plug thing the hard way yesterday. Unfortunately no one around here has one in stock, so the plugs I special-ordered and picked up today from the dealer will have to wait to go in.

I was supposed to do one in the shop today and found out the hard way also. Now the customer has to bring it back after I can get a stupid socket.

I found a cheap 5/8 deep socket locally, so tomorrow it meets Mr. Grinder. Hopefully I can get all the plugs replaced before it dies. Then I get another 2 years to track the correct one down
